Welcome to Rankd. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rankd mobile application ("App") operated by Rankd Climbing ("Rankd," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Rankd. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.
You agree to use Rankd only for its intended purpose as an outdoor climbing logging and ranking platform. You agree not to:
You retain ownership of the content you create in Rankd, including your ascent logs, notes, ratings, and profile information ("User Content").
By using the App, you grant Rankd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use your User Content as necessary to operate the App. This includes showing your public profile, rank, and ascent history to other users.
You are solely responsible for the content you submit. We may remove content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
Rankd calculates scores and rankings based on the climbing data you submit. Scores are calculated server-side and are not editable by users.
We reserve the right to adjust scoring methodology, recalculate scores, or remove data that we determine to be fraudulent or inaccurate. Rankings are provided for competitive and motivational purposes and do not represent any form of official certification or professional standing.
Rankd uses climbing route and area data from OpenBeta, a public open-source climbing database. This data is provided as-is. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or safety of route information.
Climbing is inherently dangerous. Route information in Rankd is for identification and tracking purposes only. Always verify route conditions, grades, and safety in person. Rankd is not a guide service and does not provide safety advice.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
The Rankd name, logo, design, and App code are the property of Rankd Climbing. You may not use our trademarks, branding, or proprietary materials without written permission.
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings screen in the App. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Upon deletion, your personal data, climbing history, profile, and all associated records will be permanently removed from our systems.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or is harmful to other users or the platform.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
Climbing disclaimer: Rankd is a digital tool for logging and ranking. It does not provide safety information, route conditions, or climbing instruction. Outdoor climbing carries inherent risks including serious injury and death. You assume all risk associated with your climbing activities. Rankd is not responsible for any injuries, accidents, or damages related to climbing.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rankd Climbing shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of the App.
Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rankd Climbing, its founders, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your climbing activities.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
