How Rankd started.
Built for climbers by climbers.
Rankd started with two coworkers at work, talking about what climbers actually want from a logging app. Climbing has always been about personal progression, and that will never change, but there was never a way to measure it visually, against the community, in a way that felt fun and genuinely competitive.
Existing apps are climbing diaries. Rankd is a scoreboard. Existing apps felt like robotic diaries. Clinical, lonely, and stripped of the thing that makes climbing great: the people you climb with. Rankd is a logbook, a metric visualizer, and a scoreboard. Every outdoor send earns points and feeds into the stats and visuals on your profile,like your send pyramid, your progression over time, and your climbing DNA. Rankings update in real time. You see who's ahead, who's behind, what they're climbing, and how everyone is improving.
We built Rankd because we wanted a clean, friendly logbook that keeps score with a community-first approach. It's not meant to replace the pure experience of climbing for yourself. It's meant to add a layer of motivation and insight that makes every send count a little more.
